Tonight’s Takeaways: Hat Tricks Find Rhythm In First Game with New Additions

Dec 7, 2024

Hooksett, NH | Patrick Frenette

Danbury has completed a 6-2 victory over the Mountain Kings to snap New Hampshire’s eight-game winning streak that started the previous series between these two teams. It was also a night where we saw all the new players we acquired via trades and signings.

Unrecognizable (In The Best Way Possible)

The Hat Tricks came out swinging, or in this case, scoring to start this contest. The top line featured new additions Kai Elkie and Andrew Gibbons, as well as our leading scorer Niko Tournas. This line contributed to every goal scored in tonight’s game, putting up a combined six goals and four assists for 10 total points. It was one of the most sound lines that we have seen all season.

Defense Shines Bright

Danbury has had struggles on the defensive end so far this season, yet tonight was different. Three defensemen were added to the lineup during the transaction frenzy from this past week. Those being Gavin O’Hara (from Corpus Christi NAHL), Chance Uzzell (from Rochester NAHL) and Svante Strandberg (free agent from Burlington Cougars OJHL). All three players helped in every situation possible. They also helped Spokane a lot tonight, which may have built heavy confidence for the 19-year-old netminder.

Power Play Improvement

Danbury had their best night on the power play out of any game this season, going 3/4 (75%) on the man advantage. This new unit is chock-full of goal scorers and top tier puck movers. Gibbons and Elkie both converted on what would be worth half of the final score.
