DANBURY, CT – A 33-save shutout from Marino Ramirez lifted the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (11-37-3, 25 pts) over the Northeast Generals (30-23-0-1, 61 pts) 3-0 on Friday afternoon.

Danbury had a quick start, recording 17 shots-on-goal in the first period. It culminated late in the opening frame with Gabe Dombrowski (22) putting a puck past Northeast goaltender Cullen DeYoung. Dombrowski was assisted by Boris Skalos (18), who recorded a two-point game.

During the second, Ramirez faced the most pressure of any of the three periods. Withstanding two Northeast power-plays, Ramirez made multiple big saves late in the period and stopped 16 shots in the middle frame.

With 9:08 to go in regulation, Robert Hyde’s ninth of the season gave the Hat Tricks a 2-0 lead. It was the first of two power-play goals for Danbury in 3:10. Skalos scored his 12th of the season to put the game away for Danbury at 14:02 of the third.

‘Marino was a rock back there for us,” said head coach Billy McCreary. “When we play a full 60 minutes with the discipline we played with today, we’re a very good hockey club.”

The Jr. Hat Tricks go for the sweep on Saturday night against Northeast at 7 p.m. in Danbury Ice Arena.
