DANBURY, CT– The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks exploded for seven unanswered goals, topping the Northeast Generals 8-3 on home ice Saturday night.

Kyle Schroeder would open the scoring for the Northeast Generals, tallying the first period’s only goal on the powerplay. Northeast would take a 2-0 lead early in the second, with Brent Keefer capping off a short-handed 2-on-0.

Danbury capitalized on a lengthy 5-on-3 powerplay midway through the second, with Gabe Dombrowski converting an Alex Krause feed to get the Jr. Hat Tricks on the board. Valentino Passarelli would tip a Shane Murphy shot from the blue-line moments later on the second penalty to knot the score at two.

Danbury defender Hunter McCurdy logged his first helper of the season minutes later, setting up Murphy for a backdoor goal. The scoring continued with Alex Krause deflecting a Matt Danziger shot for his team-leading 14th goal of the season.

Murphy would add his second of the game by batting an airborne rebound to the back of the net. Josh Burke would bury a rebound on a shorthanded 3-on-1 to give the Jr. Hat Tricks a 6-2 lead at the end of the second period.

The scoring would carry over into the third, with ’04-born Noah Melanson netting his first career NAHL goal off a Nolan Barrett rebound. Gabe Dombrowski would add an empty-netter, icing an 8-3 Danbury win.

Goaltender Edvard Nordlund stopped 26 of 29 in the win.

“We knew we had to come back strong,” commented Murphy after the game. “They kinda beat up on us last night, so it felt good to come back and beat them up tonight.”

The team now turns its attention to the Maine Nordiques, who visit Danbury Arena next weekend for a tripleheader. Live coverage will be featured on HockeyTV. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
