DANBURY, CT – The Hat Tricks came off of a ten-day hiatus on Wednesday afternoon when they battled the New Jersey Titans at Danbury Arena. The Hat Tricks took a 1-0 lead into the first period but could not find the back of the net after that, eventually falling 4-1.
The game opened with good end-to-end action for both teams, including a pair of breakaway chances for Danbury that were unsuccessful. Danbury did eventually find the back of the net after a great play from Hunter Young to keep play in the offensive zone.
After a sustained battle along the half-boards Young shoveled the puck to Robert Hyde (2) who buried a nasty wrist shot over the shoulder of the New Jersey goaltender to give the Hat Tricks a 1-0 lead.
New Jersey was led by their big guns, as their top line accounted for three of the four goals scored this afternoon. Brendan Dumas and Anthony Calafiore both lit the lamp for the Titans while Tommy Bannister notched two assists in the win.
“We can’t give that line multiple chances,” said Hat Tricks head coach Billy McCreary. “Right now we need to focus on ourselves and playing a solid 60 minutes of hockey.”
The Hat Tricks will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. against the same New Jersey Titans who improve to 15-7-1 on the season and move into a tie with Maryland atop the Eastern Division of the NAHL.
