It was the third straight meeting between the Hat Tricks and New Jersey Titans on Tuesday afternoon, and like the first two, it was entertaining. Danbury came from behind to win it 4-3, thanks to two goals in the last two minutes to tie it up.
Ty Ferguson once again got the start for the Hat Tricks, while it was Andrew Bely for the Titans.
New Jersey was able to squeak one by Ferguson thanks to Martin Prizgintis just 58 seconds into the game. The Titans continued to pressure the Hat Tricks in the first, getting one more 13 minutes later from Joshua Kitsis.
Danbury trailed after one, and in the second, Nikolas Doumas ripped one by Ferguson to give the Titans a 3-0 lead.
But the Hat Tricks got on the board late in the period; Tucker Mears put home his fourth of the year to cut the lead down to 2 heading into the third.
New Jersey held on in the third early, killing a double-minor. Danbury called their timeout with 3:00 to go, and then the Hat Tricks drew a late penalty as Hayden Saad was called for hooking.
Right off the draw, Brent Beswick ripped one home to make it 3-2 New Jersey, just six seconds after the penalty, with Ferguson pulled.
Then, a minute later, Beswick put a shot towards the front, and Liam Storch tipped it home to tie it up and head to Overtime for the fourth straight game.
In Overtime, both teams traded chances, but both goaltenders shut each chance down.
To the shootout, where New Jersey struck first in the first round on a goal from Joe Pocrnic. Both goalies traded saves until Brent Beswick scored with Danbury’s backs against the wall in the third.
Three more rounds came where each goalie made saves, and then in the seventh, after a save from Ferguson again, Zach Buffone flipped it over Bely’s glove to give Danbury the win, earning five of six possible points in the three-game series with New Jersey.
Outside of the six shootout saves, Ferguson made 29 in 65 minutes of play. Bely made 32.
Danbury went 1/4 on the Power Play, while New Jersey went 0/3.
Next up for the Hat Tricks, a home-and-home with Northeast, starting with the matchup in Danbury on Friday at Noon.
