HAT TRICKS SPLIT HOLIDAY WEEKEND WITH NORDIQUES

Jan 1, 2022

LEWISTON, ME – The Hat Tricks and Nordiques battled again on Saturday to finish their holiday weekend series. After the Hat Tricks routed the Nordiques on Friday, they fell on Saturday by a final of 7-3.

Saturday’s game was the continuation of a heated contest on Friday, which saw six fighting majors handed out, and a total of 146 penalty minutes. All of those extra-curriculars last night led to Robert Hyde and Hunter Young missing the game on Saturday for Danbury.

The first period was all Maine. The Nordiques opened up the scoring only a minute and a half into the frame. Maine tallied two more goals before the end of the period to enter the 1st intermission with a 3-0 lead.

Ignat Belov netted two goals in the first, and Theo Thrun tacked on the third before the Hat Tricks would find the back of the net.

The second period opened up quickly for Danbury. Jazz Krivtsov (10) tickled the twine only 20 seconds into the period. Maine would answer to make it 4-1, but Danbury battled back and got a power-play tally from Peter Lychnikoff (5) and an even-strength goal from Luka Sukovic (4) to enter the 3rd trailing 4-3.

Maine scored to open the third period and extend their lead to two. Then on a power-play a short few minutes later extended their lead to 6-3. The Hat Tricks played the rest of the game strong but surrendered an empty-net goal en-route to a 7-3 loss.

Twelve goals is the highest two-game total for the Hat Tricks all season, as their offense seems to have picked up at the start of the second half. Jazz Krivtsov led the way for Danbury, with four goals over the weekend.

The Hat Tricks will be back in action on the 7th, 8th, and 9th of January against the Northeast Generals, the first of seven-straight games between the Hat Tricks and Generals throughout the month.

The three games next weekend will take place in Attleboro before the series moves to Danbury the following weekend. That will be the next time you can catch the Hat Tricks at Danbury Arena, on the 14th and 15th of January.
