Hat Tricks Split First Series of 2024

Jan 16, 2024

The NAHL Danbury Hat Tricks split a weekend series with the Johnstown Tomahawks this past weekend, winning and losing by identical 5-1 scorelines. These were the Hat Tricks’ first two games of 2024.

Johnstown came away firing in the opening matchup, scoring three in the second period to break the game open. Grant Dietz scored Danbury’s only goal of the game at 7:55 of the second period, putting a backhand past Johnstown goaltender Jacob Osborne. Tom Kiesewetter, in his return to the Hat City after having finished the 2022-23 season with the team, made 29 saves in a losing effort.

The Hat Tricks got their revenge on Saturday in a big way. Dietz bookended the game with shorthanded goals, and Logan Nickerson, Alexios Georgaklis, and Wyatt Stefan returned to the scoresheet with one goal apiece. Nickerson and Georgaklis also added assists. Lukas Fursten added 24 saves in his first game with Danbury. Johnstown’s five-game win streak ended here.

The Hat Tricks are home this weekend against the Northeast Generals for a two-game series, with puck drop at 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Tune into the games on nahltv.com or buy tickets at tixr.com/groups/danburyarena.
