The Danbury Hat Tricks opened up a three-game set with the New Jersey Titans at the Danbury Ice Arena on Friday Afternoon, and the matchup did not disappoint.
Ty Ferguson once again got the start for Danbury, while Andrew Bely manned the crease for the Titans.
New Jersey got the first seven shots of the game, but Ferguson stood tall and made some huge saves early. Danbury would get nine of their own before the end of the first period.
In the second, the two teams traded opportunities before Joey Krausfeldt put home his first NAHL goal to give the Hat Tricks a 1-0 lead.
But New Jersey responded: Tomas Pribyl tied it up at one a minute later, and thirty seconds after that it was Joshua Kitsis who gave the Titans a 2-1 lead.
New Jersey carried the 2-1 lead into the Third Period. Danbury got a Power Play right at the halfway point, where Brent Beswick put one home to tie it up at two.
Both teams had their chances in the Third, but it wasn’t enough for 60 minutes as we would go to Overtime.
New Jersey got on a late Power Play in Overtime, but Danbury’s killers shut it down in the final minute and changed it to send it to a shootout.
Domeniks Domokejevs scored first for the Hat Tricks, while Ferguson stopped Brushaber. Beswick then went for Danbury, and he was stopped by Bely. Kitsis beat Ferguson to tie it.
In the third round, Simon Wang scored, and Ferguson finished the job.
Danbury’s netminder stopped 33, while Bely made 26 saves. Danbury went 1/2 on the Power Play; New Jersey 0/4.
The two teams are back at it on Saturday at 4:00 PM from Middletown.
