DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Hat Tricks returned home after playing four games in Blaine, Minnesota at the NAHL Showcase. They picked up their first win of the season on the final day of the showcase against the Colorado Grit and hung tough in two close losses earlier in the showcase. Patrik Stefan and his group are satisfied with the performance in Minnesota and hope that the team can carry over some momentum from their win in the last game into its next two weekends of games, which are on the road.

On Wednesday, September 13th, the Hat Tricks fell 2-1 to the New Mexico Ice Wolves. After two second-period goals by New Mexico, Emerson Molas scored his second goal of the season early in the third to provide the final margin. C.J. Kier stopped 31 shots in the loss.

On Thursday, the Hat Tricks lost 8-3 to the Chippewa Steel, a playoff team from last season. Danbury scored all three of its goals in the third period, with Aiden Farro and Wyatt Stefan scoring their first goals of the season and captain Liam Varmecky putting home his second. Molas had two assists in the contest.

Friday’s matchup saw the Hat Tricks lose 4-2 to the Janesville Jets. Danbury outshot their opponents 33-30, while Griffin Zaske and Farro scored the team’s goals. Ethan Farrow made 26 saves for the Hat Tricks.

Saturday’s game was the most exciting of the week. The game against the Colorado Grit was scoreless entering the third period, and Farrow finished with 31 saves. After Colorado opened the scoring, Jacob Roberson answered for Danbury with 9:26 to go, forcing overtime. The game progressed to a shootout, where Josh Erickson, Molas, and Roberson all scored on their attempts to secure the victory.

This Friday and Saturday, the Hat Tricks visit the expansion New Hampshire Mountain Kings at Tri-Town Ice Arena in Hooksett, New Hampshire. Puck drop will be at 7:30 both nights. The game will be available to watch on NAHL.TV.
