HAT TRICKS RATTLE OFF THREE IN THE FIRST, WIN 5-4.

JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Danbury Hat Tricks of the NAHL traveled to Pennsylvania on Saturday to battle the Johnstown Tomahawks for the first of two games on the weekend. The Hat Tricks put up three goals in the first period and held on to win 5-4.

Danbury opened the game tonight with three goals in the first frame, giving the Hat Tricks six goals in their last two periods dating back to Thursday’s third period against New Jersey.

“The guys have been buying into the process day after day, and sometimes the results don’t always show themselves, but we know we can win every night, no matter who we play,” said Head Coach Billy McCreary about his team’s recent performance. “We saw that pay off tonight.”

It was the captain who started things for Danbury, as Hunter McCurdy (1) netted his first goal of the season, followed up by Robert Hyde (3) who extended his point streak to four with a goal and an assist in the game.

The third and fourth goals of the game came from a pair of defensemen who also netted their first goals of the season. Matthew Danziger (1) and Roberts Andersons (1) got their first goals of the 2021-22 campaign, and for Andersons, it was the first of his Junior career.

“Those three guys play huge defensive minutes for us every night, so when they get on the sheet offensively it’s a huge lift to the guys on the bench,” said McCreary when speaking about McCurdy, Danziger, and Andersons. “It provided a huge spark for us.”

Boris Skalos (3) ended up netting the game-winner in the third, giving him the game-winning goal in two straight games. Both Miles Harrington and Andrew Eberling tallied a pair of assists in the victory, breaking a pointless streak for Eberling.

Seeley was good in net for Danbury, stopping 27 of the 31 shots he faced in his second straight victory.

The Hat Tricks wrap up the weekend with a 3 p.m. game tomorrow against Johnstown.
