Tonight’s Takeaways: Boring Ends Game in Thrilling Fashion

Mar 8, 2025

Odenton, MD | Patrick Frenette

The Hat Tricks would see an exciting finish in their win over the Black Bears, as rookie forward Brendan Boring would silence the crowd at Piney Orchard Ice Arena, 1:02 into overtime. Ben Dempster and David Utkin would be responsible for the other two tallies of the contest.

Skid Broken

The Hat Tricks were on the verge of setting a new record for the longest losing streak of the season, however, the physicality shined through 60. There was also never a point where Danbury trailed, which was huge. This was also a game where they were able to score first and get the momentum early.

Utkin Scores on Former Squad

David Utkin would score on the 5-on-3 power play, which also had a deeper meaning for Utkin. This was his first time back in Maryland since being traded to Danbury earlier on in the season. He would be the fourth Hat Trick to score against their former squads.
