Tonight’s Takeaways: Hat Tricks Make Big Comeback To Secure Win Over Aviators

Feb 9, 2025

Elmira, NY | Patrick Frenette

Tonight was an exciting game for the Hat Tricks, as they would prevail over the Aviators 5-4 in their final meeting in the regular season. A comeback that was started by rookie forward Max Pendy, would lead to goals from Niko Tournas and David Utkin to complete the comeback. This game could also lead to some nice momentum for the week ahead in Maine.

Danbury Battles Through 60

The Hat Tricks struggled in 5-on-5 play last night, scoring two of their three goals on the man advantage. Tonight would be completely different as Danbury would score only one of their five goals on the man advantage. They also mounted a third period comeback all with even-strength goals coming from Max Pendy, Niko Tournas, and David Utkin. Tournas and Utkin would also score 18 seconds apart in the wild ride of emotions in the final frame of action.

Niko Become Triple-Crown Single-Season Record Holder

Niko Tournas grabbed an assist on David Utkin’s game-winning goal, passing former Hat Trick Boris Skalos for the single-season assists record with his 27th of the season. Tournas passed former Hat Trick Gabe Dombrowski in single-season goals and assists back in January, to now finally hold all three records. This is also the  third game in a row that the UNH commit has scored at least two goals in a game.
